How to Pose in GMod
To pose models in GMod, you will need to use a variety of tools. These tools are the Face Poser, the Eye Poser, and the Finger Poser. It is also a good idea to use the camera tool to pose.

- Standing Pose Tool
First, you're going to want to find a place to take your screen shot. Take out your camera tool so that you won't have your HUD in the screenshot. Once you have found a place that you like, use the Camera tool and place down a camera.
Once you've found a location you like, spawn in a ragdoll. Use the Standing Pose Tool to put the model upright. Left click on the Ragdoll, then left click on the area that you'd like to place the ragdoll.
You can use the Ragdoll Mover tool to change the position of each individual bone on the ragdoll. Left click on a bone, you will see 3 arrows. The three arrows change the scale and position of the bone selected. If you want to rotate the bone, middle click.
Repeat the same process until you are satisfied with the pose. It takes some time to get used to, but the results are definitely worth it.
How to Use Face Poser - GMod
Sometimes, you want to change the face individually. To use the face poser, equip the toolgun and right click on the model you want to pose. Open the context menu by holding C. Change the sliders to configure the individual parts of the model's face.
If you want an easy preset, you can also use the drop down menu to select a pre created expression. The sliders change for each model, so you will need to experiment.
How to Use Eye Poser - GMod
The Eye Poser is a useful tool for when you want a model to look in a direction for your screenshot. To use the Eye Poser, equip the toolgun and left click on the ragdoll. Then, click where you would like your ragdoll to look. If you'd like the ragdoll to look directly at you, do Left Click + E.
How to Get TF2 Models in GMod
To get TF2 Ragdolls in GMod, install Team Fortress 2. Team Fortress 2 is available for free on Steam. Once you have installed Team Fortress 2, open GMod and click the Games tab in the bottom right.
Open the tab, then check the box named Team Fortress 2. Checking the box will mount TF2 to GMod, giving you access to all the game content, including models and ragdolls.
Useful Tips and Tricks for GMod Posing
- If you don't want to move Ragdolls and NPCs with the Physgun, you can get an addon called Ragdoll Mover. This will allow you to move your Ragdolls a lot easier.
- You can change anything about the ragdolls outside of the perspective of the camera. If it helps you to have a Ragdoll a certain way behind the scenes, then do it.
- Use the Eye Poser to make ragdolls look at each other without having to stand them face to face.
- If you're making a screenshot for something like a profile picture, don't do more work than you need
